Soooo.......

Couple of things:

1. I know very few people have checked this out so far, but I am going to try to post more.

2. Went and saw Gatorface Friday night. Played at this warehouse by downtown Orlando, The Black Box Collective. It reminded me of the old days, back when Brodies Warehouse was around. If you are ever in town, check out there myspace page for show info. It is at the corner of Central and Paramore. Have Heart, Ceremony, and Blacklisted are playing there on the 25th.

New Mexican Disaster Squad

New Mexican Disaster Squad - Second Demo

So, I was originally going to put up a picture of the pre-NMDS band Community Service, but I don't have those pictures on my computer. Anyway, this is the squads second demo, which ended up being released as the split CD with Destination Daybreak. Song names are missing on 2 of the tracks, those are the two that did not make the CD. Of course, NMDS goes on from this to tour the world, become semi-well known, and still not able to pay the bills with the band. I don't know what to say about these guys, really......I hardly ever see them anymore but Sam and Richard are two guys I will consider to be friends forever.

Anyway, here is the demo:

Culture / Roosevelt

Released on Intention Records. We will start with Culture. Edge? Check. Vegan? Check. Metal? Check. South Florida had their very own Metal core edge band in Culture. This split features Demian on vocals, who later sang for Morning Again and after that As Friends Rust. They had a pretty good interview in an older issue of Inside Front, where Demian discusses his views on the environment, straight edge, and our place in the world.

Roosevelt, on the other hand, are emo. No, not emo as in My Chemical Romance, but emo in the tradition of Revolution Summer. I have only heard 4 songs of theirs, and this is easily my favorite. Featuring shouted vocals, singing, chunky parts, and more. Truly one of Florida's great unheard of bands. Again, I have only heard 4 songs, but every one of them are killer. The other 3 were released on Boxcar Records, and I believe can still be purchased from No Idea Records.

Track List:
Culture: Exchange
Roosevelt: Smile

Boxcar Presents

So, here is a fairly rare record for all you Discount collectors. Andrew Chadwick ran a label here called Boxcar Records, and his first release was going to be a CD compilation titled "My Mom Likes These Songs". Andrew put together the comp and sent it out to get pressed. Problem was, he went through Mike Warden (CTW Records) to get this done. Mike, being the scumbag that he is, took the money and never pressed the CD.

After several months of going back and forth, a benefit show was held at the old schoolhouse in Vero Beach to raise money to press it. The show was a success, even though it WAS a bit of a fiasco, with the venue change at the last minute. The money was raised to press the cd.
Amazingly enough, after pressure from Var at No Idea and other people, Mike sent the money back (or the finished cds'??) and all of a sudden Andrew had all this extra cash. So, he made this 7", featuring the bands who played the benefit show, and gave it out for free around the state. I would venture to say that a lot of these were left in cars and melted, or thrown away.
   Here is the track listing:
1. Stizzle - Pointless Pencil
2. Flatspots - Richie Vicious
3. Wolfdaddys - Blown Away
4. Discount - Golden Girls
5. Stizzle - Lil' Susy
The vinyl to CD rip sounds like crap, sorry about that, also, listen all the way through after Lil' Susy (Which is a horrible song) and here a funny answering machine message from Mike Warden. (Really, I just listened to it again, this rip sounds like garbage....just warning you....)

I figured out

how to compress files into one folder as mp3s. I know, it sounds stupid, but I had no idea, and this enables me to link to the entire recording rather than going song by song.

Woo.

Hoo.
